The Telugu New Year -- Vikramanama Samvatsaram -- holds great promise for all-round prosperity, renowned Sanskrit scholar and astrologer Madugula Nagaphani Sharma has said.

Since Mercury is the dominating force guiding the New Year, it portends prosperity, welfare and flourishing trade and business activity for Telugus, Sharma said in his exclusive Panchanga Shravanam for rediff.com

"Telugus across the globe will scale new heights and bring fame to their motherland through their achievements," predicted Sharma, presently chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission.
