CII to woo people to pay taxes

Email this report to a friend

The Confederation of Indian Industry is now all set to take up a new role, urging people not to evade taxes.

Towards this end, the chamber has prepared a set of advertisements that would be aired on different television channels from April, CII President Rajesh V Shah said today.

The ads would urge people to pay their taxes and "sleep peacefully".

"This is as party of industry's commitment to ensure greater tax compliance that we feel will have a positive impact on the society," he said.

Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha complemented the chamber for its effort stating that this effort would have a greater credibility and appeal than the tax department's appeals.
