'The Sensex could go below 2900 technically'

'The market looks weak and brittle. Grapevine has it that sops for the capital markets could be coming soon,' says Ramesh Shrichand Damani.

Kirti : Will sensex touch 3000 shortly Ramesh?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : UTI selling could pose a problem for the market.

Aishwarya : I have 12000 shares of Infosys ? what shud I do sell by more or hold?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I would book some profit around Rs 3800-4000.

investor : Rameshji, After good rainfall why Indo gulf is not moving past 35 rs. barrier.? What is your view on the stock.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Generally growth has been poor. Market will trade these companies at yield.

anshuman : hi this is anshuman frm calcutta
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : hi anshuman welcome.

investor : Sir, you still hold Tata Tea? how the stock looks from here (rs.185 level)
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Tea is in hard times. However it is close to a low. Uptick will take time.

investor : Rameshji what is your outlook for vsnl? any upper target price?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Hello everybody and thanks for joining in. 15% yield on VSNL is very attractive. It could also be privatised. Looks good to me.

Shilpa : Ramesh will UTI really sell for redemption pressure as Damodaran is a IAS man?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Money is money. You have to pay to meet redemption. The pressure will start in January.

zorro : what do you think of mascon global at Rs 55? It seems to be a good company with professional management.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I have not followed it.

Shilpa : Can Sensex go below 2900 technically Ramesh?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It is a possibility. Market looks weak and brittle. However grapevine has it that sops are coming for the capital markets over the next few weeks.

wilfred : The global economy seems to be in crisis. Will this have a negative impact on India?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It has to be. We are not a part of the global financial chain.

Shilpa : What is target price for VSNS Tata Tea and United Breweries?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : No target prices but UB could find a buyer. VSNL looks good. I own all three in small quantities

samar : Can you tell us what the stock market expected from Musharraf-Vajpayee and will it have a negative impact on the market?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Expectations were low. However if peace breaks out we save on the dividend budget big time. It helps domestic growth.

Shilpa : Rameshbhaiji what are the likely sops for capital markets by Yashwnat bhaiji?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : My guess would be some form of margin trading.

Shilpa : Ramji can u elaborate on margin trading is this badla in modified form ji?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It is. Only the americans call it margin trading. We called it badla.

alto : What is your analysis of the FII inflows? Why is it so high? Is it money that will leave India quickly?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It could. Especially if we start a regime of fiscal ease and do not do any structural reforms.

investor : Rameshji, As an investor when I am willing to take a risk associated with equity, then why so much fuss about US-64?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Beats me. I think UTI has done a poor job explaining it to investors. It needs a complete ovehaul. In any case they are going tobe diminshed in stature 2 years from now. New blood will come in.

Shilpa : Excellent in that case sensex will cross 4000 and nifty will cross 1200 by Diwali Ramji?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Too early to say. Outlook for global equities remain weak.

investor : Rameshji, How you like Glaxo, E-merck and Hoechst at present level. Is any of them is a good double the money in two year stock.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I am not very strong on pharma. They are all good companies. Hoechst has exciting plans.

investor : IBP is sliding everyday. At 325 level is it a good buy?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I think so. It seems good to me.

namaskar : mr damani what do u think will be the effects of summit failure on the stock markets in the long term
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : The defense budget and fiscal deficit will grow. Bad news.

RSKenaDamani : hey damani are u an associate of Mr.Rathi who ditched Ketan parekh and the markets
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I am not. However your facts are incorrect.

niranjan : can you throw some light on vikas wsp? is the stock worth holding at 56?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : EPS seems too high to hold up. Guar Gum is not exactly intellectual property.

janees : Were can i get a best online tutorial on stocks, how to analyse the charts etc...
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Try bigcharts.com

reddy : Ramesh ji what is your opinion on satyam now??
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Still not enthusiastic.

namaskar : mr damani, how will our stock markets behave once euro comes into full force ???
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : No great insights. What do you think?

niranjan : what is the future of second rung software stocks like kale consultant?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Without growth they look pretty ordinary.

investor : If defence budget is going up then Bel seems still better to buy at this 65 levels? what is your view
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It is a tech company at PSU values. I own it still and like it.

reddy : Rameshji it is better to keep Softwarte stocks like HFCL and satyam??
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Not unless you believe in them. I dont.

Chetan : Namaste Damani Ji I hope you remember me. I want to know more about OPTIONS TRADING. Give me some very good websites so that i can learn everything about it.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : try cboe.com and derivativesindia.com

jonya : Could you please tell us the record date of VSNL and if I purchase VSNL shares now whether I will receive dividend of 500%.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Div date is not yet announced. It is cum dividend.

Why : why is that you have a very negative attitude over Global tele
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Events have proved it right.

Chetan : Damani Ji My brother in law works for Dr Reddys and according tohim the company is doing very well. I took all the info from him as an Analyst and put a PRICE TAG of Rs 3500 for 2 years with AGGRESSIVE BUY Reco whats your opinion ?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It could be among the leaders in the next bull market. Its price action is good.

shanmuganathank : so many times investors have been taken for a ride ruthlessly. won't it affect the development of healthy capital market in India
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It will. Promoters and priceriggers shoud feel the weight of the law.

RSKenaDamani : Mr.Damani whats ur picks for tomorrow.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Let us move away from day trading into the field of investments.

RSKenaDamani : Stock investor silverline is a very good buy at this price.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I am not optimistic on Silverline. ANSHUMAAN YOUR QUESTIONS ARE NOT BEING RECD.

Shilpa : US 64 NAV is Rs 6 my dear friends so be cautious ok. I am UTI employeee here?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : That would mean big trouble.

: also can u tell if price of vsnl shall fall after dividend being given?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It will for sure. However it might rise first.

RSKenaDamani : MR.Damani what are ur picks in IT industry for investment
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : i have answered this Q too many times check the transcripts.

: is it worth buy sci at current level
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I am neutral towards it. Prospect of an IPO is overhand for the stock

atyagi : Dear Damani, Last time you said TISCO is not a good buy at current levels since steel prices are at a historic low. Don't you think this gives an ideal opportunity to buy for the long-term? Or you induce short-term trading only?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Price has fallen to Rs 100.I beleive in long-term that is why i avoid commodity companies with poor fundas.

suresh : Is there any hope on INFOSYS? When will it go to the heydays again?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Its best days may be behind it. It seems to be caught in the 1990's

moha : which is the best script for intra-day trade to make money for a small investor?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : My suggestion is not to do it. Day trading is for professionals.

RSKenaDamani : Mr.Damani what's ur opinion on SSI
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It looks bad. Stock has virtually no support.

swissbankeightymillionohman : what are the prospects of HLL? is it going to remain at this level for some time?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : HLL seems a bit overpriced. I would expect a correction.

RAJEEV : IS NASDAQ GOING TO GO BELOW 1000 OR IN 3 DIGT IN NEAR FUTURE
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I doubt it.

sanjeev : hello sir what is your opinion about rolling settlement
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Like a car without shock absorbers. The ride will be rough.

atyagi : Mr Damani, Do you see any chance of market recovering in next six months since UTI is ever ready to sell because of internal problems and FIIs have bought to sell later on recovery.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Sentiment is low and market is well liquidated. If the sops are intelligent and disinvestment is done market could see a rally.

RSKenaDamani : Mr.Damani what do u think about the company (SSI) and not in the mkt. Please tell me some picks so that i can buy in the market as i am unable to view the transcripts. pls Mr.damani
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Two stocks i own and like are EServe at Rs 180 and Bharat Electronics at Rs 65

sanjeev : lots of prob in that time all the exch india large nse not working proper in that time what is future of market for small investor
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I think we need to organise and bring promoters and bankers to do proper disclosure.

Shilpa : Rameshbhai at what price shud I enter RIL and RPL please tell me brother?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : RIL and RPL are owned heavily by uti. This creates a overhang

praveen : mr. damani pls advice about mastek
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Avoid it.

atyagi : Well, with the internal politics as one sees now, it is very difficult to assume that worthwhile disinvestment will take place. In that case, what is the probable scenario for market.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : I agree. I too get depressed. However a crisis forces the govt to change.

Dev : Don't you think that the Indian Body Shoppers (also known as software exporters) are doomed for ever, and have taken the IT Training industry down with it?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : No. But they have to move up the value chain and into services and IT enabled.

navnit : Sir, which scrip should i buy so as to make it double by diwali, in view of celebrating diwali with health n wealth
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Markets are rarely so generous. Investment is not a game, but a discipline.

Naidu : What is the future of Global Tele and Hughes Software ?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Hughes looks better. I own a few shares of it

lisha : Mr Damani I have 100 shares of Modi Rubber Should I sell?

praveen : sir,i have gtb shares.does it has any future

TANGO : How badly would Indian stock markets react if Argentina were to default on its debt payment?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Money flows will slow down. That would be bad news.

atyagi : Mr Damani, NIIT is today rated at 13th position world widein IT education segment. How do you see this stock in one year from here?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Let it first make a bottom. I am amazed at the fall in the stock.

shakyamuni : mr damani how long do you think that the present recession would last. When can we see the BSE touching 5500 again?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : It will take some time.I have no time frame. During the next bull market almost certainly. When it starts, I don't know.

TANGO : In the recent past we have seen Indian stock markets being affected by what happens at the Nasdaq specially in the tech shares. Would u say this is a good sign in tht the Indian stock market has now matured?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : We are now a part of the global finance chain. However China is also and the market is doing well. Generally our politicians have not delivered. Chinese have. However we have democracy and that is good.

eserve : Sir - Thanks for your timely call to exit from US64 in May. I saved a lot. Thanks a ton ! I really appreciate it.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : You owe me a party!

Arun : How long the market will move side ways like this? I think weekly settlement will come back, am I correct?
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Not now. But margin trading surely.

RAJEEV : can a person buy us64 for 12% return as 10 paisa permonth for 12 months is 1.20 paisa and return is 12% on 10 rs face value
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : No it is only for old holders.

msm : Mr Damani, are you THE Damani banned by NSE?? What can be done to prevent occurrences of 'wrong' quotes??

Ramesh Shrichand Damani : Intel is looking bad. Next quarter looks bad for tech. Maybe the worst. Market looks lacklustre.

deenar : Mr Damani, Have you heard about iflexsolutions and if so do you have any views on it.
Ramesh Shrichand Damani : We will wait for the pricing. It looks good though. It is owned by Citibank.
