Producers and directors must be valuing my judgement, because when I like a film, they quote my report and if I don't like a film, I've heard them say "Who is this Komal? Does he think he's the last word in film reviewing?"

mr sippy - Can you differentiate very clearly between "paying humble tributes" and "being inspired" and blatantly, brazenly and amorally plagiarising from Hollywood. How many in Bollywood know the difference? (do you?) ;-)

SMALL: I was never in a queue to distribute any of his films even before Mrityudaata. Therefore my position and approach to distributing his films remains the same as before.

Anthony: I'm not releasing Indra Kumar's film. It is likely to be released by the year end.

Mr. Ramesh Sippy: A big reason for the flop of the movies these days is they are over budgeted. The stars are charging more than what they deserve. What do you think is a reasonable remuneration for a number one through three hero/heroine?

Krack: First of all, 'paying humble tributes' is only a camouflage of politely lifting scenes from someone else's creation. 'Being inspired' is also very often used to lift tunes with a slight modification and giving oneself the credit for what he is not due. Brazenly , blatantly and amorally plagiarising does not mean any explanation since whatever is blatant is so obvious that there is no attempt to camouflage, thereby clearly exposing the intentions. Most attempts had this blatant plagiarisation has proved to be disastrous, including 'Ghost' , Indecent Proposal and Sleeping with the Enemy and an earlier attempt at The Other Side of Midnight.

Shouldn't Amitabh stick to his core competence, acting. And accept pivotal character roles that suit his persona and age. He would probably remain watchable and more for at least a decade more. Comment.

Tahseen: This is absolutely true. Most flops or unsuccessful films are only due to ridiculous prices charged by producers. In fact, in certain cases the films would not have fallen in that category had the prices been reasonable as earlier. The prices of stars should never exceed Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million) and go downwards depending on their success and craze amongst the audience and the trade in general.

Komal, will HAHK be the last movie where Madhuri was allowed to shine in? Hope not, how is Dil to Paagal Hain progressing?

SMALL: For a distributor it is very essential to play a long innings . I therefore definitely am taking every precaution to see that this innings is not cut short by a rash shot . I have to the best of my knowledge selected Mustafa, Laawaris, Mere Sapnon Ki Rani and Abhiyaan as my forthcoming releases. I sincerely hope that these are carefully selected as planned. The rest is left to god.

Komal - a serious question. Why is Anil Kapoor called a good actor (if at all he is called one). I think his success goes entirely to Kamal or Bhagyaraj. None of his originals have seen the end of tunnel. All his hits are Southie remakes (Virasaat included). I think Amit should also adopt such tactics.

Mr. Sippy, I've seen your articles on top heroes and heroines according to distributors, who are they now?

Mr. Sippy are you betting on Nana Patekar? Was Yeshwant a flop? He's very repetitive :(

ANTHONY: Amongst heroines, Kajol, Karisma and Manisha are right now ruling the roost although the order mentioned above may keep varying from time to time depending on the individual success factor of films they have been working in. As regards heroes too some of the successful ones are still Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and Govinda and their order also fluctuates from time to time.

Komal, In Dil to Paagal Hain, does Karisma have a weighty role? What new movies is she signed for?

Komal-Right, but in Mr India he was absent in most part, Tezaab was because of music and MD and Ram Lakhan -- he can't take credit for that if Subhash Desai has to take credit for... I forgot the film's name, but that song Duniya re duniya V good was in it.

Dear Amitabh, sorry for joining in late. Why don't you do roles of a person your age. It becomes difficult for us to see you running around heroines less than half your age.

Mr. Sippy: Shakti is one of my favorite films. It had top stars, star writers and star director yet it failed on the box office. Why do you think it flopped ?

Shahenshah>> Amitabh is a great actor, period! According to me, he has no business acumen to match the huge corporation he has opened. His statement that he is not to be blamed for Mrityudaata seems to be a white lie. Earlier, when he was just an actor, it was alright if he did not interfere in the making of his films. But now that he is a producer, too, to say he did not see the film or that he did not know what type of film is being made is nonsensical and cannot be pardoned by his various distributors. He definitely must have been involved (he calls it interference) in the making of the film and in all probability, does not want to take the responsibility now.

how did the abcl movie flop
