A T Jayanti. (Tue Nov 19 21:33:28 1996 IST):

The states financial position has become precarious with sucessive natural calamities. How are u going to help the stae tide over not just the present crisis but also in future? Are there any solutions to be found or do we just have to brace ourselves for more havoc caused by cyclones and floods?

vedula (Tue Nov 19 21:33:33 1996 IST):

As a comment , I do have to say that I was apprehensive when you came into power and thought this was not going to last , but you proved us all wrong and have emerged as the undisputed leader in the State .. Congratulations

Ram Behari Sharma (Tue Nov 19 21:35:08 1996 IST):

What are you doing to combat the PWG? They seem to pose a major threat to the administration.

ntr (Tue Nov 19 21:38:54 1996 IST):

With your subsidies in rice, liquor ban hence no revenues, and cyclones which need money for relief, how are you going to cope with the financial doldrums that Andhra Pradesh is in, or certainly will be in?

Sam............ (Tue Nov 19 21:39:51 1996 IST):

The way you pulled the coup against your father- in-law was disspeakable, and embarassing to the entire Telugu community. All those your cronies were elected due to NTR. You all could have resigned and contested again when NTR was alive, but you did not have any guts.SIGGULEDURA ?

Sunder Prasad (Tue Nov 19 21:39:53 1996 IST):

Naidu garu, Do you still consider Mrs. Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvati as a political force to reckon with ? or have written her off ? Do you think her winning the Pathapatnam seat was a fluke or was it a failure by your party ?

Rajeswar Juvvadi (Tue Nov 19 21:39:56 1996 IST):

Dear Babu, I am Karimnagar MLAs brother, I am more concerned about Naxalite problem in Telangana. Can we do anything about it from here in USA. Also I want to help in cyclone relief works, how can we go about it. I want to congradulate you on performance, keep it up. We are ready to help in good work anywhich way we can

vedula (Tue Nov 19 21:39:58 1996 IST):

Mr. Naidu, In the bid for power do you believe you did anything wrong when grabbing power from Mr. NT Rama Rao yo whom you owe a lot in terms of your political career ?

NARA CHANDRABABU NAIDU (Tue Nov 19 21:40:00 1996 IST):

Praksah: In Hyderabad we are planning to construct 16 flyovers at important junctions. I'm taking personal interest to keep the roads clean and clear. I have taken all steps to regulate traffic. I am making surprise inspections to supervise all these measures.

Sunder Prasad (Tue Nov 19 21:42:59 1996 IST):

Dear Mr. Naidu, My name is Surendra and am sending this query/suggestion/reminder on behalf of a retired IA&AS officer of '67 batch - Mr. JR Rao. This is with regard to the water problem in Hyderabad. Would like to suggest/remind in this context that there is a proven, inexpensive method of bringing Krishna water to Hyderabad by means of a "Hydram" - Hydraulic Ram. The great advantage is, once it is installed, there is no recurring expenditure at all, as the kinetic energy of the water itself takes care of it. This method has genesis in England in the 19th Century and still many an organisation worldwide is successfully using this method. This is in use in India only three places to our knowledge- at the Taj Mahal, Kashmir and Leh. The concept and method of Hydram is cearly explained and elaborated with lot of examples and testimonials in a very rare book which Mr. Rao possesses. I do not want to disclose the details of that book now. A note with photocopies of the method/concept was sent to your office on 2nd Nov. '96. Request can anything be done about this?? I could be reached at: suren@satyam.com

vedula (Tue Nov 19 21:43:18 1996 IST):

Is he going to answer of these good questions

NARA CHANDRABABU NAIDU (Tue Nov 19 21:44:18 1996 IST):

Rajeswar: Thankyou for your compliments. I want to maintain law and order at any cost so that proper development will tkae place. If you want to send assistance to hurricane victims through cheque or demand draft, it may be sent in favour of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Cyclone Relief fund 1996.

Raj Pydishetty (Tue Nov 19 21:47:13 1996 IST):

Mr. Behram, I might have ideas to help out the victims, but what is more important is, that we wouldnt have time to implement those in India. I am sure there are enough volunteers in India to do the work. And by god's grace, we have some extra money to donate for a good cause as this. Now, all I am looking for is a good plan (like adopting a vilage) or atleast an assurance (which Mr. Naidu just spelled out) that our money does the work it is intended to. I am being practical here, I am not worried about what has not been done before (like ignoring the warning signals). I think we wouldnt be having a meaningful interaction with the CM if we try to question him on such things. All we should be worried about now is to see what we can do best now.

vedula (Tue Nov 19 21:48:17 1996 IST):

Hello Mr. Naidu, My question pertains to prohibition, has it achieved the end that you desired? Or has it been an extension of a bad election gimmick ? Mr. Naidu, Do you foresee a coming together of the two factions of the Telugu Desam , or is there too much bad blood for this to happen ? Mr. Chief Minister, Do you foresee a role for yourself as "king " and not just king maker ? As a comment , I do have to say that I was apprehensive when you came into power and thought this was not going to last , but you proved us all wrong and have emerged as the undisputed leader in the State .. Congratulations Mr. Naidu, In the bid for power do you believe you did anything wrong when grabbing power from Mr. NT Rama Rao yo whom you owe a lot in terms of your political career ? Mr. Naidu, Please comment on the criticism that the govt did not act properly with regard to evacuation of the regions where the cyclone was to hit .

Sunder Prasad (Tue Nov 19 21:48:26 1996 IST):

Naidu Garu, Are you not going to answer any of my questions ?

From what I can make out, some of us need to reask our questions, they have vanished from the screen

Rajeswar Juvvadi (Tue Nov 19 21:55:49 1996 IST):

Dear Bubu, About prohibition, Just to stop some people from drinking, should we put rest of the people to suffering by over taxation. Can't we lift prohibition, and develop a new excize policy where it is not as easy to buy drinks and have some revenue same time.

vedula (Tue Nov 19 21:57:15 1996 IST):

Mr. Naidu, please comment on the killing ofthe DSP in Warangal yesterday ? What are you doing to stop this ? This problem has gone too far À

Sri Ramesh Vadlapudi (Tue Nov 19 21:58:11 1996 IST):

Naidu Gaaru! I would like to know what steps are being taken to improve the literacy rate in our state. Our state is one of the least literate state. I believe that illeteracy is the main cause of all the social evils. I heard a lot abour Aksharajyothi some time back and heard it was successfull later it diverted towards anti liquor movement and now nobody speaks of aksharajyothi. Why is this?

NARA CHANDRABABU NAIDU (Tue Nov 19 21:58:13 1996 IST):

THANKS TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS. THIS IS A USEFUL EXCHANGE OF VIEWS AND IDEAS. I TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SEND MY BEST WISHES TO ALL OF YOU. IN CASE YOU HAVE FURTHER QUERRIES, YOU COULD GET IN TOUCH WITH MY OFFICE AT THE FOLLOWING e-mail ADDRESS. sudanr@stph.net

prakash (Tue Nov 19 21:59:33 1996 IST):

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply regarding traffic regulations in HYD. I just wanted bring some points for your consideration. For the industrial development of the state infracture should be good. In that the main ones are electricity and traffic regulations etc. Let us talk about traffic. Every evening from 4:30Pm to 9:00pm the soroundings near SEC station are horrible. Just try to drive in that road during that period with out escort. It is hell. So much of traffic conjuction. Why can't you go for the modernisation of existing railway network from Sec 'bad to Malakpet and ahead. Not only traffic in that Bus no 1 root we can reduce the pollution also. I think lot of politics are involved in the expansion of Elephenta bridge. More over all most on all roads of HYD road enchrochments are the main problem. There will be no road dividers,no control about traffic. Pl bring out a legislation in the Assembly that nobody should come in front of the illegal enchrochments.Once the Capital is developed automatically people will come forward to invest.Once the state is industrilly developed then this type of calamities can be met automatically with the internal aid itself. We all are here to help AP. But you should keep your promise of making AP as like Japan or S.Korea by year 2005. Thank you

Balu (Tue Nov 19 21:59:52 1996 IST):

A few religious people who talked to me think the recent calamities in Andhra, including the floods, are due to the death of NTR which is caused by your treachery.
