The Shatrughan Sinha Chat

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 20:40 IST)

Dear Menaka, I wish u could take the tinted glasses of prejudice off your eyes. U could then see very clearly that BJP is not only the hope but the future of this country. Besides it has tremendous people's support, it has capable people, able, acceptable, respectable and intellectual leaders. Condemning this party is like condemning the millions and millions of people of this country who are supporting, projecting and bringing this party to power. Remember Menaka - besides being the largest single party in Parliament, we also have many govts with us and we are the principal Opposition in some of the states, we shall be forming the govt very soon - all thru democratic methods and processes, that means we are coming thru ballots and not bullets - PEOPLE ARE SUPREME!!!!

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 20:41 IST)

Mr Sinha, is it true that u are BJP's candidate for CMship in Bihar if they come to power in the state in the next elections?

Babu (Thu May 15 1997 20:42 IST)

Good evening, Shatruji, I am, like you, a good old Bihari. How did a state that produced Rajendrababu, the great JP, Arun Shourie, you and, of course, me, ever end up like this? Who do you hold responsible for this?

Budayon ka Lalla (Thu May 15 1997 20:42 IST)

Arre Bhaiya! We hear u want to be the prime minister of the country. Makes sense. Ur views on the CTBT and its relevance to India.

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 20:45 IST)

Mr Sinha, what do u think are the major problems facing Bihar?? I mean what issues u would like to tackle first if ur party comes to power in that state??

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 20:46 IST)

BJP is known as a Brahmin-Baniya party. Don't u think it should be maintained as one forever. Afterall it is these dalits and rest of the yadav gang that has taken Bihar to this mess that it is in today.

MANEKA! (Thu May 15 1997 20:47 IST)

MR SINHA YOU COMPLETELY AVOIDED MY QUESTION!!!HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE CARNAGE IN BOMBAY THE DESTRUCTION OF THE MOSQUE? RELIGION BUYING VOTES? HOW MR SINHA HOW? DO YOU PROPOSE THAT THE MOSQUE WAS NOT DESTROYED BECAUSE OF BJP'S AGITAION ? ISN'T IT SHAMEFUL? AND THEN YOU CALL THIS PARTY THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY???

dpawan (Thu May 15 1997 20:47 IST)

What does the words "Bihar" and and "India" mean to you?

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 20:47 IST)

Dear Shikha, In fact the BJP has already emerged as the national party! It believes in one nation, one law, one people, justice to all and appeasement of NONE ! In fact, BJP is not a communal party but a common man's party which fully believes in the integrity and sovereignity of the country - and a strong, united and progressive India. BJP believes in democracy not theocracy !! It is only the exposed opposition's propaganda which people don't believe anyway anymore - BJP being communal thanks to BJP's upward electoral graph and tremendous people's support!

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 20:48 IST)

BJP IS NOT COMMUNAL!! If BJP is communal, then so is Christain Democrats in Germany, Republicans in US, Tories in UK... and the list goes on. Come on you ignoratas, accept the fact that politics can not be without religion. Rather than denying it, it is better to accept it and work with it.

Manjunath Prabhu (Thu May 15 1997 20:49 IST)

Mr. Sinha, Bihar had ancient universities like Nalanda. But currently it stands last in terms of education in India. An illeterate electorate was responcible for the mess created by buffon lallo. If you become CM what steps you plan to take to clear this education mess in bihar

Manjunath (Thu May 15 1997 20:51 IST)

Shikha (Thu May 15 1997 20:53 IST)

Mr Sinha with a certain leaning towards Hindutva with another of those rath yatra coming up this month, how on earth can you call it a national party? Your party has to rise above this shallow religosity and look in larger perspective of the nation. It has to?

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 20:54 IST)

Dear Manisha, As far as I am concerned I have no such personal ambition of becoming CM or any minister for that matter, but at the same time I cannot run away from the responsibility if and when given by the party or the people. And last but not the least who can say about the woman's moods and man's destiny!

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 20:54 IST)

Shatruji, have u totally abandoned ur career in Bollywood, or are u still doing / planning to do any films??

Karuna Sagar (Thu May 15 1997 20:54 IST)

Mr Sinha: When will you stop acting in films? Where do see yourself ten years from today? In active politics? Or as retired a film star? Have you got any business plans like the Big B?

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 20:55 IST)

Mr. Sinha: What are u in politics for - making more money or feeding your ego ; and please, I do not buy into the cliches of thoery of service to the nation and duty and ....

Manjunath (Thu May 15 1997 20:55 IST)

Mr. Sinha, Please answer my previous question. If there was not so much illetaracy in Bihar scams of the order of Fodder scams could not have been carried out so brazenly by that buffon. Also why there is so much lawlessness in Bihar. Is the situation beyond repai?

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 20:58 IST)

Mr. Sinha: Yu do have makings of a politician (and that is not a compliment!). You have this knack of convenient and selective answering. Three cheers to another addition in the list of crooks in India!!

Shikha (Thu May 15 1997 20:58 IST)

Mr SInha, how often do you go to Bihar? You must agree that Laloo has attempted to beautify Patna to some extent. Specially the traffic islands?

dpawan (Thu May 15 1997 21:0 IST)

Mr. Sinha, what virtues you find in yourself to be a political leader of a country?

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 21:0 IST)

On ur comment on "destiny"... there cant be a better example than current Indian political scenario!! Virtually *anyone* can become the prime minister of worlds biggest democracy!:-) So no harm in trying ur luck too!!!;-)

Awesome (Thu May 15 1997 21:4 IST)

Mr Sinha?

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 21:5 IST)

Rediff: Are u guys still on or another of those power problems. Damn this country India can drive you nuts!!

Awesome (Thu May 15 1997 21:5 IST)

Mr Sinha?

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 21:6 IST)

Dear Abhi , There are many major problems in Bihar today like poverty, lawlessness, widening difference between the haves and the have nots, the almost dead bureaucracy, massive corruption, chaotic situation, jungle raj and above all a myopic, selfish and most corrupt leadership. When we come to power, besides fighting corruption, poverty, unemployment - I have already answered the priorities which we intend tackling on immediate basis on war footing and those are: Peace, Prosperity, Progress and then Pride! Dear Dpawan, to me Bihar is my weakness and Bihar is my strength - India is my motherland, my commitment, my responsibility, my love. It is my past, present and future!

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 21:7 IST)

dpawan: who told u, u need to have any "virtues" to be a political leader in India!

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 21:9 IST)

Dear Budayon, U seem to belong to NRI community in a different sense - the choice is yours - Non Reliable Indian or Non Required Indian!

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 21:13 IST)

Mr Sinha: Thanx for ur answer... I feel in the long run, education is the answer to all the problems that u listed.

Budayon (Thu May 15 1997 21:13 IST)

Or maybe it should say INR Mr. Sinha... India Not Required or Indian Not Reliable

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 21:13 IST)

Dear Shikha, I go to Bihar very often, u may be surprised to know almost twice/thrice a month, not a year. As far as Laloo's effort in beautifying Patna - if u call that beautification, we must change the definition of beauty!

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 21:15 IST)

Dear Budayon, Grapes are sour. Stay whereever u are. Now u have proved that u belong to both the categories - Non-Reliable as well as Non-Required Indian - what an NRI u are!

dpawan (Thu May 15 1997 21:16 IST)

Mr Sinha, as a opposition member , what you have done for Bihar to transform your weakness for it to your strength , for us to support you and your party to come to power in Bihar?A few brief comment will be appreciated.

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 21:19 IST)

Mr Sinha, not all NRIs are like that... please dont generalize

Manjunath (Thu May 15 1997 21:19 IST)

Mr Sinha, I regret you did not answer my previous questions. Will your alliance with Samata continue for ever? Or once election victory is registered the usual fight starts for CM ship with Nitesh Kumar being in the forefront from Samata side.

Shikha (Thu May 15 1997 21:19 IST)

Thank you Mr Sinha for your responses. It was a real pleasure. Best of luck and have fun.Good night.

Shatrughan Sinha (Thu May 15 1997 21:20 IST)

Dear Abhi, Thank you very much, I do agree! Education is really very important - in fact, thru education we can also solve the problems like population, pollution, corruption etc.

LALOO (Thu May 15 1997 21:22 IST)

Abhi (Thu May 15 1997 21:25 IST)

Mr Sinha: thanx for ur time... it was really a pleasure chatting with u. Good luck for ur future endeavors in Bihar. Take it from me, u'll need a lot of "luck" along with other things to solve problems of a state like Bihar (or a vast country like India for that matter!). Good night.

LALOO (Thu May 15 1997 21:26 IST)

GOOD NIGGHT MR SINHA NICE TALKING TO YOU, BUT I GOTTA LEAVE FOR WORK, THANK YOU
