'Market is in good shape'

Mumbai, November 27, 2002: 'It should rally through February. The worst in the markets is over,' says Ramesh Shrichand Damani.

dayals : hello Damani sir, we are desperate to hear from u about markets. all of a sudden everybody has started singing the tune of bull run....is it like 'bhedia aaya, bhedia aaya...'what do u say & if at all suggest some scrips with March( budget) in horizon.we'll be obliged
Ramesh S Damani : Hello everyone. Thanks for joining. Let's start. I would say that the worst is over in the markets. We may see a correction tomorrow but the market is in good shape. It should rally through February with a stop around December 13 (Gujarat elections).

Ravi : Hello Mr. Damani. I did not invest in IT stocks at the start of this Bull run. Can I invest now in Infosys, Wipro or Satyam. What is the best bet? I will like to hold the stock till budget.
Ramesh S Damani : Those are expensive stocks and volatile. Look at smaller stocks in IT like Geoemetric, which I own.

Ravi : Is there more upside in Telco/Tisco? Any targets you think, they will touch?
Ramesh S Damani : Both these stocks are on a sound footing. Technically they should go higher. I trade them.

baracuda : with the sec bill in place with bond yields hitting new lows with a thrust on retail dont you see a big upside in sbiand do you feel it is still cheapplease advice on sbi
Ramesh S Damani : It has just broken out of a technical range. I own a small quantity and like SBI a lot.

sanjay : Dear Mr. dami,US version of globalisation: Throw India out of BPO market "What is your comments todys new in the economic time "
Ramesh S Damani : I think it was over sensationalised. I would not worry about it.

SUNDEEP : I have some holding of I-flex , should i hold or sell
Ramesh S Damani : Counter is looking good. I would hold it till early next year. I have a trading position.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : Ramesh Babu i heard that you have recommended Vintech is it because of the low m'cap at a eq of rs 5 crore it trades at ts 14 or is it because of the pref offer to be made? please comment.i bought some at rs 13.65 today
Ramesh S Damani : I bought a small trading position in Vantage cards. Just trading.

bulbul : why E-SERVE not moving , in fact today it has broken 500 level also
Ramesh S Damani : We may have to wait till Q3 results for an upmove. If growth comes, market will start moving up.

sanjay : Thanks for ans on BPO . do u still see india as a globe destination for BPO business from USA.
Ramesh S Damani : Yes. In my view, the BPO trend is transformational. It is going to have a huge impact on our economy.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : Is the Bofors effect well discounted in the HTMT price. If so I already have a decent position in it Can I buy more?
Ramesh S Damani : I think so. However, before buying more let's watch the counter.

SUNDEEP : sir, the sector which is really looking good is banking sector after the securitisation bill any scrip apart from sbi
Ramesh S Damani : It would benefit the banks the most like Bank of India etc.

baracuda : why do you continue to buy small caps when the major move upwards have come in the large caps everybody is recomending large caps and yu and we have burnt by buying small caps like gati macloss, tvse
Ramesh S Damani : remember infy a large cap fell from Rs 13,000 to Rs 2500. You should buy good value and be patient. Typically, a rally is led by large caps. However, more money is made in small caps.

AnandBhatt : Sir,why has Karur Vysya dropped exbonus and its not showing any strength.Your views.
Ramesh S Damani : Not widely followed. Market loses interest after some time.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : Why has the ITES bull neglected Mphasis Bfl. Is it nott better then Eserve on the basis of growth and valuation?
Ramesh S Damani : They are doing well. However, I prefer management of E-Serve for its quality and focus.

bulbul : Again asking , please suggest your TOP 5 PICKS .
Ramesh S Damani : Something like Tata Honeywell and McDowell are good places to start.

marketbull : what is your view on bluestarinfo, bilt, ceat, ipca, wockhardt, for medium term
Ramesh S Damani : I own Blue Star Infotech and IPCA. Wockhardt is good. I would avoid Ceat.

AnandBhatt : Sir,what is your latest opinion on Tata Elixsi and Kale Consultants?
Ramesh S Damani : Kale has the potentail to be a speculative favourite. Tata Elxsi does not impress me yet.

anoop : what is th best bet in todays market for a period of 6 to 12 months. Is it investing in mutual fund or share ?
Ramesh S Damani : I would recommend and own Tata Honewywell. Risk reward is in your favour.

StockLover : In a $15 billion dollar industry (in 2007 as projected by NASSCOM) what would be a fair hypothetical market cap value for E-Serve in 2007 ?
Ramesh S Damani : I can dream of a market cap 5-10 times current size.

SUNDEEP : Any particular scrip in pharma sector.
Ramesh S Damani : I recently bought IPCA.

tigershark : esrve management said they are not going into third party right now but will concentrate only on citigroupso where do yu see extr growth coming from
Ramesh S Damani : Citibank is a Rs 300 billion market cap company. They have loads of word to offer.

GAUTAM : i bgt HFCL at 135 ,,, now can i buy more for averaging it out ???
Ramesh S Damani : Avoidable in my opinion.

sonia : what r the prospects of investing in ONGC shares?
Ramesh S Damani : I am not enthusiastic about it.

AnandBhatt : Sir,are you suggesting Ipca as an Investment or a trading call? What price do you advise entering?
Ramesh S Damani : It is too ill-liquid to trade. I am going to watch it. Results will be good.

tigershark : darshan metha of moneypore says that one should exit mcdowell at current price and mcmillan in a rally is he your sworn enemy or does he make sense
Ramesh S Damani : Remember, difference of opinion makes the market. We all have good picks and bad picks.

asd : i hold 2500 shipping corporation at 98.what shall i do?what could be the bid price if at all disinvestment happens.
Ramesh S Damani : I would be surprised if a price of Rs 75 or greater was bid.

billg : hows the NIIT scrip for investing now?
Ramesh S Damani : I am trading in it.

KAMYA : hello Mr. Ramesh, Im interested in Stock...would like to know if buying McDowells is advisable at these levels?
Ramesh S Damani : Yes, if you are patient and can hold for 1-2 years.

deep : Please again asking , Whats cooking at IT&T counter, any chance going back to 60 levels
Ramesh S Damani : No new news. Just trading punt.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : You would recall that I have been arguing for Mastek with you for over 6 months now. I hold some qty of it since then. It has a low M'cap also Will you not look into it on a reaction especially in view of the large orders it seems to bag from Capita. It is another Alliance favourite though
Ramesh S Damani : I have questions regarding management. In the past they have not delivered.

SUNDEEP : please answer Manish's question about GTL
Ramesh S Damani : Lack of faith in management.

sanjay : you mean to say with only citigroup, e serve can grow ??
Ramesh S Damani : For the next 2-3 years, yes.

sridhar : Sir can i buy heriatge food at 35 rs. please tell me sir.
Ramesh S Damani : Don't follow it.

boo : How the RELIANCE SCRIP FOR THE INVESTING NOW ?
Ramesh S Damani : Looks good.

Manoj : Damaniji,Mindteck's contract with American Bureau of Shipping has ended which was his biggest customer with almost 45% of revenues.Do you think it will hamper Mindteck's future prospects? Please suggest should I get out of it?
Ramesh S Damani : Where did you read that?

guptaone : rameshji! when king fisher & ubbeer will be traded on nse? king fisher looks more stronger than mcd! what is ur opinion?
Ramesh S Damani : I don't know. I have been trading in and out of Kingfisher.

dayals : sir, why are u avoiding our Q about top 5 picks. We value your opininion alot & it makes sense to every one
Ramesh S Damani : Let me make up a new list.

Anand : Sir I hv got a news recently that HFCL is going to get a order from reliance infocom.... if it is going to be true than can u change your view on HFCL at these prices not at 1000 or 1500 or MGMT. will still be a concern?
Ramesh S Damani : Still a concern.

shreekant : good evening ,rameshji do you think correction for infosys is over today
Ramesh S Damani : It may continue tomorrow.

sheeraz : GOOD EVENING SIR I AM FROM GERMANY AND I WANT TO ASK ONE QUETSION ITS WORTH TO INVEST IN THE COMPANY WHICH HAS BAD REPOTATION IN PAST
Ramesh S Damani : Not unless something has fundamentally changed. If the business is a "good" business, yes. However if business is also poor and management is also poor, I would avoid it

AnandBhatt : Sir,you say that market has lost interst in KArur Vysya?DO you think the future of the scrip is bleak?pls advise.
Ramesh S Damani : It is good value and I would be patient.

deep : Tata Honeywell - What price will make you EXIT ,s ame for GEOMTERIC
Ramesh S Damani : I have no upper price band decided. The company is doing well and growing. Thanks all for joining. See you next week.
