Rarely is Gilchrist called Adam by his mates. Instead, they prefer 'Churchy'. Recently the wicket-keeper-batsman explained where this particular nickname stemmed from.

"A young autograph hunter once approached me and said: 'Excuse me Eric Gilchurch, can I have your autograph?'," Gilchrist revealed.

Records have been blown away, history has been recreated many times over, but Gilchrist has remained essentially unchanged -- still the modest young man that his father wants him to be.
