Mamta to lead for Kiwi series

Mamta Maben of South Zone will lead India against World champions New Zealand in the forthcoming one-off Test and five-match one-day international women's cricket series, beginning November 27.

Women's Cricket Association of India secretary Shubhangi Kulkarni said a 15-member squad was picked after watching the players' performance in the Rani Jhansi tournament, which was recently held in Mumbai.

The Test will be played from November 27 to 30 in Vapi, Gujarat, while the one-dayers will be held in Mumbai, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The selected players, along with five standbys, will undergo a two-week training camp at the Tata Steel Complex at Boisar.

The team: Mamata Maben (capt), Mithali Raj, Anju Jain (wicketkeeper), Jaya Sharma, Hemlata Kala, Neetu David, Anjum Chopra, Deepa Kulkarni, Jhulan Goswami, Amita Sharma, Sunetra, Paranjpe, Karuna Jain, Nooshin Al Kadeer, Diana David and Babusha Singh.

Standbys: Beas Sarkar, Arundhati Kirkire, Priti Dimri, Reema Malhotra, Mamta Kanojia.
