Bangar's Test record speaks for itself: 12 Tests, 470 runs at an average of 29.37, with a century and three half-centuries. He has also picked up 7 wickets.

His axing from the first Test against New Zealand, thus, leaves many questions unanswered.

Even captain Sourav Ganguly is clueless. "Unfortunately we don't have Sanjay Bangar in the team for whatever reasons," he said. "He has done well for himself and he should consider himself unlucky. But I am sure he will work hard in future and make a comeback."
