Dravid's innings longest by an Indian

Rajneesh Gupta | April 16, 2004 18:02 IST

Rahul Dravid's marathon innings of 270 in the third Test against Pakistan, in Rawalpindi, is the longest innings ever played by an Indian in Test cricket. His 740-minute stay at the crease bettered Sunil Gavaskar's record of batting for 708 minutes while scoring 172 against England at Bangalore in 1981-82. He now figures twice in the top 10 list of longest individual innings for India.

It took Dravid 647 minutes to complete his double hundred -- the third slowest double hundred by an Indian. Only Navjot Singh Sidhu and Anshuman Gaekwad have taken longer to complete their double hundreds.
