Sriram elated over comeback

November 06, 2004 18:12 IST

Elated over his comeback to the national side, Tamil Nadu batsman S Sriram today said he hoped to make good use of the opportunity.

"I am really elated. I have been looking forward to this. I hope to make good of this opportunity given to me," Sriram said after he was included in the 15-member Indian squad for the November 13 one-day international match against Pakistan to be played in Kolkata.

The 28-year-old, who made his one-day debut against South Africa in Nagpur in 2000, had scored a fine 125 for India 'A' in the practice match against India Seniors in Bangalore last month.

A consistent performer in domestic tournaments, Sriram has over 7,000 runs to his credit in first class cricket. Sriram, who is also a utility spinner, had been striving for a place in the Indian team for over a season.
