Kerala [Images] would do well in Ranji Trophy cricket championship this coming season as the state has got an abundance of young talent, India speedster S Sreesanth [Images] said on Saturday.

Speaking at a meet-the-press programme of the Ernakulam press club in Kochi, he said the state has got a good Ranji team and that there are several talented youngsters, which is good for the state.

"I think if the youngsters are given better opportunities, they would definitely do well," Sreesanth replied to a query by a scribe on Kerala's poor performance in the Ranji Trophy championship last season.

"I also played Ranji Trophy match at age 19. If enough opportunities are given, I am sure the Kerala Ranji team will do well in the future," he said.

Lauding the Kerala Cricket Association, Sreesanth said that the KCA was doing well to develop talent. The academy, which KCA started at Thiruvananthapuram, would do a lot of good for the game in the state, he said.

The KCA should also have such a kind of facility in Kochi, where a lot of cricket is being played, he added.
