India vs Australia statistical highlights

Following are the statistical highlights of the semi-final between India and Australia in the Twenty20 cricket World Cup.

- India won their fourth successive toss in the competition.

- For the first time, two wicketkeepers -- Adam Gilchrist [Images] and Mahendra Singh Dhoni [Images] -- led their respective sides in the same Twenty20 International.

- Gautam Gambhir [Images] and Virender Sehwag [Images] put on their fourth successive stand of 30 or more in the competition -- 76 against New Zealand [Images]; 136 against England [Images]; 32 against South Africa and 30 against Australia.

- Gautam Gambhir, with 152 runs in five innings, at an average of 30.40, is the leading run-getter for India in the World Twenty20.

- Dhoni took his average to 37.00 in the competition ---148 in five innings.

- Yuvraj Singh's [Images] 70 is the highest individual innings for India in Twenty20 Internationals, bettering Virender Sehwag's 68 off 52 balls against England at Durban on 19.9.2007.

- Yuvraj's innings had five sixes, taking his tally to 12. The leading six-hitters in the ICC [Images] Twenty20 are: Craig McMillan [Images] (New Zealand)  [6 matches,  5 innings, 13 sixes]; Yuvraj Singh (India) [ 5-4-12]; Justin Kemp (South Africa) [5-5-10]; Chris Gayle (West Indies [Images]) [2-2-10]; Matthew Hayden [Images]    (Australia)  [6- 6-10]; Imran Nazir [Images] (Pakistan) [6-6-8].

- Yuvraj, with his 20-ball fifty, became the first batsman to hit two fifties in this competition off 20 balls or less.

- He already holds the record for the fastest fifty - a 12-ball fifty against England at Durban on 19.9.2007.  Now he jointly holds the second fastest fifty with Bangladesh's Mohammad Ashraful [Images].

- Yuvraj's strike rate of 235.08 (134 in four innings) is the best in the World Twenty20.

- The 84-run stand between Yuvraj and Dhoni for the third wicket is an Indian record in Twenty20 Internationals.

- Ten sixes were hit in the Indian innings, which is their second best tally, next only to 11 against England at Durban on 19.9.2007.

- Ten sixes were also hit in Australian innings and a world record of 20 sixes in the match has been established.

- Matthew Hayden, with 265 runs (88.33) in six innings, is the leading run-getter in the tournament so far.

- Hayden became the first batsman in this competition to score four fifties.

- Joginder Sharma (2/37) produced his career-best bowling performance.

- In terms of economy rate, S Sreesanth [Images] produced the best bowling performance for India (4-1-12-2). R P Singh's figures of 4-0-13-4 against South Africa on 20.9.2007 were the previous best.
