Ajay walks into Lajja

Ajay Devgan Sunny Deol's last minute walkout of Rajkumar Santoshi's Lajja had everyone wondering as to who'd replace the star. Santoshi was hell bent on proving a point and wanted to complete the film at one go... Luckily for him, his reputation as an exceptional film-maker has seen him through. Ajay Devgan heard the role was vacant and stepped and Sunny's shoes without a second thought.

I'm yet to prove my mettle: Hrithik

Hrithik Roshan Both Salman and Shah Rukh Khan are believed to demand territories of their starrers as remuneration. Similar offers were made to current craze Hrithik Roshan as well. But he surprised everyone in the trade by saying humbly that he had not yet proved his mettle and, hence, was not in a position to accept the offer. "Let the producers who risk their money on me reap the benefit," he said.

Saif in, Manoj out

Manoj Bajpai Have Manoj Bajpai and Ramgopal Varma crossed swords? The differences between the actor and the film-maker have gone to such lengths that Manoj has walked out of Ramu's film which also stars Aftab Shivdasani, Sonali Bendre and Fardeen Khan.

Apparently, Ramu, who never expected his Satya star to rebel, was shell-shocked. But he recovered and soon found a replacement in the most-willing Saif Ali Khan.

Ramu, it seems, is also seething from within. But Manoj pleads innocence. He claims he was protecting his image and only wanted a bit of clarification.

Boney on cost-cutting drive

Satish Kaushik, Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor We must hand it to Boney Kapoor for his astute planning and careful manipulation. Most of the recipients of the Bollywood awards at New York were starring in Kapoor's films. But closer inspection revealed Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Sanjay Kapoor, Satish Kaushik and Aftab Shivdasani flew down for the function, but stayed back to shoot the song sequences for Boney's films. It can only mean Boney managed free tickets for his unit members and stars! Which , of course, is a smart way of cutting costs!

Naseer out of Rajiv Rai's next

Naseeruddin Shah Naseeruddin Shah no longer features in Rajiv Rai's new film. This, despite the fact that the multi-starrer (Sunil Shetty-Arjun Rampal-Aftab Shivdasani-Keerti Reddy) had Naseer in a prominent role from the planning stage itself. Even the dates had been worked out well in advance and all the stars were told to keep dates free for three months, without a gap, for the shoot in Scotland. Yet, as the dates drew close and the final planning began, Naseer's name suddenly disappeared. Surprising, considering Rajiv has always been one of Naseer's favourites and has always featured in his films. Only the main protagonists can clarify what has gone wrong... But will they?

Is Nana serious?

Nana Patekar Nana Patekar is openly wooing, dining and wining close friend Ayesha Jhulka (nothing secretive about that, considering their late night rendezvous are at the city's various coffee shops). But he is not promoting her with his film-makers.

They can't believe it and are stunned with his new attitude . Patekar's producers were praying that Nana would not thrust Ayesha into their films. And he has not. In fact, when one of the film-makers suggested Ayesha's name, Nana himself magnanimously suggested they could opt for someone more saleable. Does this mean that Nana is, for once, serious about this relationship?
