At some point, religion is no longer a priority

October 13, 2008
Firdaus and Nidhi now have a little boy and are planning to raise him as a Zoroastrian. Since Nidhi is an atheist, it doesn't really matter to her. They intend to perform the Parsi navjote (thread ceremony) for their son as soon as he's old enough. At this point, religion is not a priority anymore; it's been pushed to the background in favour of raising a happy family together.

Sam De's story is a little different, though. A trader in the stock market, Christian Sam has been married twice and both times to Hindu women. His first wife and he decided to do the wedding in style, complete with Hindu functions like mehendi, sangeet and pheras, followed by a formal Christian wedding in a church after a couple of days. The second time around, plans were being made to go about it the same way, when, unfortunately, the bride's father passed on. That downscaled things to a small, simple Hindu wedding ceremony. The thought that he didn't get to have a Christian wedding this time doesn’t bother Sam -- he simply doesn't care.
