Sensex hovers at 4150 level, up 60 points by noon

The Bombay Stock Exchange opened on Wednesday on a steady note as institutions and speculators went on a selective buying activity. Pivotals were relatively weak; software and pharma stocks seemed subdued in the mid-session. Profit-booking was reported at Hindalco, Grasim and Tata Tea counters.

Commodity, banking and refinery stocks were firm. Cement stocks were the most sought-after in the market. ACC reached its upper limit of the circuit-breaker quite early.

The 30-share benchmark index, the Sensex, was on a steady climb, and hovered around the 4150 level, up nearly 60 points from yesterday's close.

Arvind Mills and BPCL reached the upper limits of the circuit-breaker. BSES was quoting at a 52-week high of Rs 184.90.
