Mazdoor Sangh tells Balco staff to boycott VRS

The Bharat Aluminium Mazdoor Sangh has appealed to the employees of Balco to boycott the voluntary retirement scheme announced by the joint sector company.

Addressing a gathering, Sangh general secretary Brahma Singh alleged that the Bharat Aluminum Company management was making an attempt to downsize the workforce and conduct work through contract system.

He charged the management with neglect of workers and pushing the company towards 'industrial unrest'.

Earlier, Balco announced a voluntary retirement scheme for its nearly 6,300 officials and employees.

Official sources said application forms in this regard would be accepted till August 16.

Nearly 330 employees, who applied for retirement were not required to apply again.
