Market@February 23: Day's report

Panic selling gripped the software counters on Friday. Global lost 15 per cent. Himachal, Zee, Silverline and Pentamedia down by 10 per cent each.

Old economy counters also felt the pressure. Bhel, Tata Power, Telco, L&T, MTNL, SBI, Grasim, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Tea, and BSES also lost substantially.

Sensex down 141 points at 4122. Nifty down 40 points at 1315.

  • High: 4277.36
  • Low: 4118.09
  • Close: 4122.16
BSE volume: Rs 4775 crore.

Most active:
Himachal, Zee, Satyam, Infosys, Reliance.

Gainers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Parekh Plat, EID Parry.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
Nocil, Syngenta Ind, Cyberscape, Denim Ent, HOEC, Vorin Lab.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Global, Zee, Pentamedia, Himachal, Indo Gulf Corp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Aptech, Sterlite Opti, Tata Power, Telco, Tata Chem, Bhel.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
