Market@February 27: Day's report

For software stocks, it was yet another day of panic selling. Himachal hit the 16 per cent lower circuit and remained there during the second half of the day. Global Tele, Zee Tele, DSQ Soft, Pentamedia, Silverline also lost more than 11 per cent each. Infosys was the only counter to gain marginally.

Old economy counters remained mixed. Counters like Tata Power, Ashok Leyland, ITC, Tisco, Telco, SBI, BSES, and Ranbaxy gained smartly. Other stocks remained under pressure for a major part of the day.

Sensex down 43 points at 4070. Nifty down 11 points at 1301.
