Petroleum cos to contribute Rs 400 million to PM's relief fund: Naik

State-owned petroleum companies will contribute Rs 400 million towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for quake-affected Gujarat, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Ram Naik said on Monday.

About 40,000 kilolitres of kerosene has also been despatched to Gujarat, which forms a basic necessity after drinking water, to cook food and light lamps," Naik told newspersons here.

He said refineries situated in Gujarat along with a LPG pipeline, were found safe.

Oil companies may also pick up one taluka each in Gujarat for rehabilitation just as was done after the Orissa cyclone, he said.
