Market@May 9: Day's report

Overall, a negative day for software stocks. Global, Himachal, Digital and Wipro lost more than 10 per cent each. Infosys, SSI, NIIT, Silverline, and DSQ Software also lost substantially.

The performance of old economy counters was relatively better. Reliance, L&T, HLL, Cipla, Gujarat Ambuja and Telco remained firm for a major part of the day. The trading volume was high on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Sensex up 6 points at 3586. Nifty down 4 points at 1145.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Global, Wipro, Digital, Himachal, Pentamedia, HCL Tech, Fujitsu ICIM, Padmalaya Tele, Aztec Soft.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
DSQ Software, Silverline, SSI, Aptech, BEL, Bombay Dyeing, Ashok Leyland, Vikas WSP, Orient Info, Fourth Gen.
