Bihar truckers join strike

April 22, 2003 09:05 IST

Over 100,000 from Bihar joined the nationwide strike from midnight Monday to demand stable fuel prices and fewer levies.

The trucks went off the roads in deference to the April 17 decision of the Bihar Motor Transport Federation (BMTF) to support the strike called by the All India Motor Transporters Congress, BMTF president Jagannath Singh told PTI.

Transportation of essential commodities like milk, gas cylinders and medicine within the state has been exempted from the strike, he said.
