President to deliver 1st Dhirubhai Ambani memorial lecture

President A P J Abdul Kalam will deliver the first Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial Lecture, instituted in the memory of the late chairman of Reliance Group of Industries, in Mumbai on July 6.

Elaborate security arrangements are being made by the Mumbai Police for Dr Kalam's visit. Dr Kalam will deliver the lecture at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre of the National Centre for Performing Arts at Nariman Point.

Other distinguished speakers likely to attend the function include Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, Union Communications, Information Technology and Divestment Minister Arun Shourie, former finance minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Members of the Ambani family and some prominent corporate leaders will also be present on the occasion.

The welcome address at the function will be delivered by Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, while the vote of thanks would be proposed by his younger brother Anil Ambani.

Eminent film actor Amitabh Bachchan will make the introductions.
