Wipro Info to automate Oriental Bank

Wipro Infotech said on Tuesday that it would computerise the banking processes of Oriental Bank of Commerce through a centralised banking solution.

Wipro, as the prime integrator, will be responsible for integrating Infosys's core and Internet banking solutions, a company statement said in Bangalore.

Wipro will also provide telebanking and cash management solutions to the bank and also provide infrastructure platform comprising Sun Microsystems machines and Wipro Intel servers.

Oriental Bank of Commerce has planned to bring 25 branches under core banking solutions (all branches linking directly to the central database server) by March 2004.

Subsequently, the bank will roll out to cover 500 branches in four and half years time.

Wipro Infotech, a division of the $900 million IT major Wipro Ltd, provides enterprise customers with high value information technology products, services and solutions in India, and provides technology and software services in Asia Pacific and West Asia.
