HCL Tech inks deal with AMD

HCL Technologies on Thursday announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar IT co-sourcing contract with AMD for the personal and networked computer and communications markets.
Founded in 1969 and based in Sunnyvale, California, Advanced Micro Devices or AMD is a global supplier of integrated circuits for the personal and networked computer and communications markets with manufacturing facilities in the United States, Europe, Japan, and Asia.
AMD, a Standard & Poor's 500 company, produces microprocessors, Flash memory devices, and silicon-based solutions for communications and networking applications.
According to a release issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the deal involves IT infrastructure management, maintenance and support of global IT applications.
The services will be delivered out of HCL's facilities in India - part of which will be dedicated for AMD, the release added.
"The ISO 9002 certified, HCL Operations Management Center, which uses best-of-breed enterprise management tools and processes to ensure high availability of IT infrastructure, was a key factor in AMD's decision in HCL's favor," the release said.
