July 25, 2003 15:17 IST

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India said on Friday that open house discussions on Unified Licencing regime is likely to open in September.

Asked about the timeframe in which the regulator would submit its recommendations to the Government on Unified Licencing regime, for which the consultation paper was floated last week, Trai chairman, Pradip Baijal said, "It will not be possible for me to give a definite date on this."

Trai has extended the deadline for receiving written comments on Unified Licencing regime to August 30 from August 7 specified earlier, after consumer organisations and industry players sought additional time.
