DAWN OF A NEW ERA: Prime Minister Vajpayee and Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri signed major agreements at the ASEAN-India Summit at Bali.
The objectives of the trade agreement are to:
- Strengthen and enhance economic, trade and investment co-operation between India and ASEAN;
- Progressively liberalise and promote trade; and
- Explore new areas for closer economic co-operation.
