Hero Honda sales up 6.1% in August

Hero Honda Motors on Monday said its motorcycle sales grew by 6.1 per cent in August to 145,730 units, from 137,264 units in the same month last year.

The cumulative (April-August 2003) sales rose by 7.5 per cent to 747,660 units as against 695,305 units a year ago, according to a release issued by the company in New Delhi.

The sales during August were higher by 1.8 per cent as compared to 143,141 units sold in July, it added.

Hero Honda, the country's largest motorcycle maker, produces models like Splendor, Ambition, Passion, CD-Dawn, CD100, CD100SS, CBZ and Karizma.

The Munjals-promoted Hero Group and Japan's Honda Motor Co own 26 per cent stake each in Hero Honda. The remaining stake is with financial institutions and the public.
