Hero Honda net zooms 25% in 2003-04

Hero Honda Motors, India's largest motorcycle maker, on Monday announced a massive 25 per cent jump in net profits at Rs 728 crore (Rs 7.28 billion) for fiscal 2003-04 and declared a 1000 per cent dividend for shareholders.

Net sales grew 14 per cent to Rs 5,832 crore (Rs 58.32 billion) in 2003-04 from Rs 5,102 crore (Rs 51.02 billion) in the previous year, managing director Pawan Kant Munjal said at a press conference in New Delhi.

The company sold 2.07 million motorcycles during the last financial year, a growth of 23 per cent.

Net profits were placed at Rs 581 crore (Rs 5.81 billion) during 2002-03.

The company's market share increased from 43.8 per cent to 47.6 per cent over the period.
