NRNPM : Sir, When are you coming to Chennai. We want to invite you to Infosys Campus in Chennai
Ramesh S Damani : Hello everyone. Thanks for joining. Let us start. Send me an invite, it would be nice to come

balchan : The Reliance imbroglio - it looks like more skeletons will tumble out - what is your view on a group that has done extremely well albeit in an opaque fashion?
Ramesh S Damani : As AA (Anil Ambani) said 'long hours and long days.'

Mayank : Hi Mr Ramesh. There are lots of broker firms providing of on-line trading services also, can u suggest one service who is the best & providing the good service with minimum brokerages, etc?
Ramesh S Damani : Don't really follow them. Sorry

NRNPM : Sir, investors here wait for you more than they do for their girl friend
Ramesh S Damani : Thanks that is a great compliment, but I am sure the GF is not Aishwarya

amandeep : Sir , thanks to you I was able to get my daughter married off. I have been a follower of you for a long time: BEML at 2 digits. I however have just one more query. I have Wockhardt at a cost a little more than CMP. Should I hold it for a year or any better choices? God bless
Ramesh S Damani : It makes my day. It is so nice of you to say so. Good luck. I have no view on Wockhardt at this time.

paisapower : Mr Damani, successful people are modest and simple and if ever I can say who it can be, it would be you one among them, it is great that your are taking your valuable time out and helping small investors like us. It is amazing that almost all of your picks are doing great, we cannot ask more but "investment is an art" as you said once, what more can we expect form here, someone today on moneycontrol.com said the sensex will hit 10,000 in 5 years. Any insights? Once again i thank you, rediff. com & moneycontrol.com
Ramesh S Damani : I enjoy it. And remember, in a bull market everyone is a genius. All stocks go up. Protecting wealth in a downturn is the hallmark of true genius. Thanks anyway

rksachan : Sir, Do you think Godrej Ind is still uder value and good appreciation possible?
Ramesh S Damani : It looks okay to me

SanjanaR : Thanks for all your help sir.. I now don't need a loan to finish my studies.
Ramesh S Damani : Wow. Everyone is being friendly today. Thanks

sanujkadavil : sir yesterday mallya says he is looking for IPO of Kingfisher Airlines after launching. do you think its value unlocking and he is not looking to sell aventis holdings for that.
Ramesh S Damani : yes, and UB Holdings should benefit greatly from this. i own it

optimist : Dear Mr Damani, I have been following you chat for the last 2 months with great interest. I have tried asking you questions in this forum but never got a reply. I would really appreciate if you can tell me your views on 1) D-Link 2) Venkys 3) Stride Arcolab 4) Cummins. You can choose not to answer all of them but would appreciate at least some response.
Ramesh S Damani : thanks, i try and answer interesting Qs or Qs of broad interest. I try to avoid individual stocks, since I may not know much aout them. THE 4 stocks you mention should have a good year ahead. I own the first 2

anand1973 : Micro Tech - Sir, YOU were check if they were doing good (company price has doubled since then @ 91 now, but hardly any volumes)?
Ramesh S Damani : i think price has run up too fast. book some profit

sanujkadavil : sir, what's your call on encore software , after the announcement of source code opening.
Ramesh S Damani : i recently added some, stock looks promising

DXBMAX : Sir, There is profit booking going on some of your favourite stock, like Tata Elxsi, opto circuit, Nucleus Soft. Are these stocks attractive now. Are fundamentals still strong? Can we buy them on long term view?
Ramesh S Damani : i think so

sudipto : Sir pl tell some new undervalued stocks or some recent picks of yours. Y'day MD of Nucleus Software came to the CNBC -tv 18 and he said he is trying to make Warren Buffet make an investment in nucleus software. Pl throw some light. What he actually means to say? Thanks
Ramesh S Damani : he wants to build a co Warren would admire, not necessarily invest in

Mayank : Mayank:- market will become very volatile before Budget in Feb 2005? So as a small investor, we should take caution or invest on continuous basis?
Ramesh S Damani : i would remain invested

benG : TV18 has been in a 160-180 band for a while. Competition from NDTV at the anvil. Is TV18 a value buy at the moment?
Ramesh S Damani : i think so. i recently bought some

sureshmakhija : sir ji good evening. U told about tata tele service now they r coming with right issue and they had already so huge equity of 3302 crores what u think now abt this company plzz comment thanx
Ramesh S Damani : where did you hear about the right issue

anand1973 : Sir is venky's a multibagger? what is its line of business?
Ramesh S Damani : hatchery

amandeep : sir , thanks for replying would you suggest I buy anything else. Lets put it this way: the respect and faith we have in you would get us to sell the shirts off our back and invest it in a scrip if you said that was a good choice. Please sir do give me one pick. I will exit Wockhart
Ramesh S Damani : i would look at Nucleus for 1-2 year investment

Sewa : Sir your call on nelco. Apart from sensors for defence they were planning to get into Aritificial Intelligence Tools for a oil company in US.
Ramesh S Damani : i am going to read the latest balance sheet

suk :  Sir, MICO was trading at Rs 16000 and suddenly fell to Rs 1300 on July 7th. I could not find the reason. Is there something really wrong. Is this a good pick?
Ramesh S Damani : u mean 13000> ???

DXBMAX : sir mico had a split, think 1:10
Ramesh S Damani : that would be correct. i think

xyz : Sir can we buy balmer lawrie and arvind products at current level and what should be the time horizon in our mind when we buy it?
Ramesh S Damani : yes, at least one year

sanujkadavil : sir, have you looked abee-info consumables. pune based company making catridges. company recently launched catridges for ink jet printers. 98% of indian ink market controlled by epson, canon , hp. company is on major expansion.
Ramesh S Damani : what is the full name of the co

KRR : Sir again... your views please, i am too intoxicated to decide :-).... Good evening Sir... it looks like the whole market is running after liquor stocks and your followers like me who are holding those since long are totally intoxicated (i don't drink though)... is it time to book profits partially or should continue to enjoy the joy ride? :-)
Ramesh S Damani : Difficult to say. However stocks are closing at high end of price band, so steam is let. M cap is still small

praveens : indiabulls is on bull run. your views?
Ramesh S Damani : well valued

Kans : Ramesh ji, Do you think the market at the current level still a place to put one's money even if one is selective about the stocks ?
Ramesh S Damani : i think so

AnandBBhatt : Hi Sir, how are you, how is Torrent Cables doing? What's the latest news?
Ramesh S Damani : no recent update

NRNPM : Sir, please let us know, we want to invite you to our Infosys campus, Chennai
Ramesh S Damani : who would invite me, Infy co or some staff organisation

vikas : Nucleus: Is GMAC such a great deal that u are ready to wait for 1-2 years for true value to be unlocked
Ramesh S Damani : not for gmac. it is a good co run by good people and they should do well

StockLover : The market has moved up by nearly 25% over the last three months. Yet the ITES sector consisting of HTMT, Mphasis, Macmillan, Tata Honey have all stalled. Why is this so ? Surely the dollar should not have been a concern to the ITES sector, as the IT industry consisting of Infosys, Wipro, TCS and Satyam have all raked in substantial gains during this period
Ramesh S Damani : trying to understand market timing is not easy,

sanujkadavil : sir, abee info consumable ltd. pune base dcompany bse code- 530833web- abeeinfo. comlots of news on this company in last two years. they have dial and easy fill project in pune. so we can just make call and they will come and fill the ink. they looking 100 abee shops across the country, i will send a some more news later
Ramesh S Damani : thanks

barkha : Sir, something is happening in Godrej Ind today. Any idea?
Ramesh S Damani : Serious buying?

kvg : sir do you have any idea on BOC India and TRF. if yes please throw some light on them. sir please say yes or no so that i can ask something else.
Ramesh S Damani : boc should do well. i am studying it

katakia : yesterday's comment of attracting warren buffet as a potential investor by mr dussad of nucleus was obviously in a lighter vein. but do you see such comments separating boys like him from the men like CEOs of bigger tech cos?
Ramesh S Damani : i would not read that much. However he is an exceptionally good CEO

warrentomorrow : I think SELLING is more difficult than BUYING. What is your view?
Ramesh S Damani : both are hard, but selling may be harder

ak : Sir, any recent buys?
Ramesh S Damani : khoday ind, it is looking undervalue compared to other liquor shares. It is a trading bet. Onward Technolgies as a trading bettoo. I own both (trading)

vikrantgoyal : hi sir. i would like to go into security analysis.. for that i need CPA Or CFA?
Ramesh S Damani : not really, but it may help

NRNPM : We employees of Infosys, as a special guest and request you to address the group, we do it often, You remember me I met you in Chennai last time?
Ramesh S Damani : sounds okay. let me tell you the next time i am in bangalore

simplify : Mr Damani.. I have been accumulating Venkys for a long time.. Consumption of chicken/egg has scope for a multi year bull run in India.. however, only issue is the fairly large debt component.. Have you had a chance to analyse that ?
Ramesh S Damani : i am studying it

amandeep : Thanks Mr Damani , just to say if I knew any way of sending you an invite I would but you will always be in our family prayers without you (your advice) I really dont know how we would have got the marriage done. will immediately sell my Wockhart and get Nucleus
Ramesh S Damani : thank god. You give me too much credit

vikas : Tata Elxsi and Macmillan : refuse to move out from the existing band and rally seems to topping out. what should be the strategy?
Ramesh S Damani : patince

JOEGRANVILLE1 : ramesh, what r u reading currently? Thanks
Ramesh S Damani : influence by Robert Cialdani - great book

KRR : Sir, I remember you saying once that you have had a tough time with MTNL... your view on it at current price since merger talks with BSNL are going on... please :-)
Ramesh S Damani : no view

Blazing : Sir, How does MRO-TEK look from investment perspective? Is it similar to d-link??
Ramesh S Damani : I do not follow it

sree : sir, FIIs continue to pour dollars into India. But is this for small term or long term?
Ramesh S Damani : money flow will be strong in Jan, I think

shashi : Sir, normally the stock market discount the future. Do you think that the valuations are running far too ahead of the fundamentals ?
Ramesh S Damani : not really

mansri : Sir, SBI - last Thursday it went up by about Rs 40 and now consolidating at 570-75 levels? Do you think it is readying itself for a major bull run, perhaps will cross the earlier highs? Any chance for the FII cap removal in the near future? Pl advise, sir.
Ramesh S Damani : i doubt FII cap. it remains a good value buy

NRNPM : Sir, we are from Chennai office now
Ramesh S Damani : sorry

sanujkadavil : sir, geojit is trading much lower valuation compared to india bulls, what your call on india bulls at these levels caution? why fidelity so bullish on india bulls
Ramesh S Damani : geojit looks okay to me

simplify : Mr Damani, how can we ignore banking sector. It has to do fantastically if the economy booms - retail loans, corporate lending.. also interest rate risk has reduced with rupee going up ? I think there are great picks in both PSU and old Pvt sector banks. Valuation gap between them & new pvt sector bank is a an eye opener..
Ramesh S Damani : your thesis is correct

rjsvj : sir, BALAJI are you still holding into this stock? When are they announcing proposed dividend?
Ramesh S Damani : yes. Don't know

StockLover : Thanks for your answer. What I really find astonishing is that in a broad based bull market such as this one, the fastest growing sector (ITES) has stalled. The rest have been performing quite well. Is this just a temporary phenomenon or something that is possibly beyond me ? I hold a substantial holdings of ITES in my portfolio and I am a bit concerned. Thanks
Ramesh S Damani : market is moving by rotation, end eserve d-listing has taken some of the air out. It will return though

sanujkadavil : sir, the real question on mr. mallya facing is why ub spirits division , world 4th largest making a mere 30cr profit. he cannot blame regulators only. becoz radico making decent profit even this scenario, some one telling him sell the assets and put in bank ,even at 6% rate you will get more money
makhijasuresh : sir i had read one up on wall street beating the street warren buffet way now tell me the other books sir thanx
Ramesh S Damani : try Adventure Capitalsit and Invt Biker by Jim Rogers

DeviBala : Good Evening Sir,Can we enter Godrej , Mcdowell tomorrow??
Ramesh S Damani : that is for you to decide, i have made my recommendations

sudipto : sir any new light on encore software? Can I buy at this price ? thanks
Ramesh S Damani : i would make a small bet

NRNPM : Sir, the whole crowd in our campus is eagerly looking forward to meet you, please let us know as when you visit Chennai, we can make arrangements for you
Ramesh S Damani : okay i will

praveens : Sir, karur vysya bank suddenly rose by 10% yesterday. Any particular news on this stock?
Ramesh S Damani : with the banking sector

SANJANARA : timing the market is a bad thing... the first stock that i entered in a big way was arvind products.. but when i entered arvind products it was at its peak... and it was bold risk that i took to enter it @ 16.. now i feel a bit dumb... i am convinced though that its a long term pick.. am i right sir...
Ramesh S Damani : pretty much

sudipto : Sir what is so exciting in encore software which is compelling Mr RAMESH Damani to take a bet on it. Thanks
Ramesh S Damani : good price and interesting space

DeviBala : Sir, I have followed your words blindly made lot of money. I am spreading your fame among my friends and relatives. Can we enter Mcdowell, Godrej at this levels? Any news about Swaraj enjines sir?
Ramesh S Damani : thanks, but dont follow blindly in a financial market. Do your own homework, bring your convictions. that will make you real wealth

vikas : SWARAJ ENGINE : With tractor industry set to grow at 30% this year, is it become a great buy at this price
Ramesh S Damani : looks okay

makhijasuresh : sir what r u r views about pharma sector and health care seeing the the huge market of outsourcing like contract manufacturing contract research and huge market of clinical trials and huge potential og medical tourism i asked the same from mark faber he said that the most promising sector in india is health care and pharma sir plzz now u er comment sir plzz comment
Ramesh S Damani : they are doing well. so you are right

simplify : Have you looked at NIIT. NIIT tech stake is worth Rs 80/share, plus 40 odd in cash. Means education business is valued at some 40 bucks... Market cap / sales is mind boggling sir.. pls take a look. also pays dividend of 5 bucks.
Ramesh S Damani : i will thanks for the idea

katakia : SAI SERVICES ltd a coo. promoted by congresss M. P suuresh kalmadi with an uninterrupted dividend record is available at a mkt cap of rs. 18 cr. , while its last year revenues were rs. 500 cr. It also has subsidiary called SES technology with annual revenues of rs. 300 crores. sai has operating profits of rs. 9. 86 crores which convrertt in to acash EPS OF RS. 2. 90. is the valuation compelling enough to take an aggeressive investment call
Ramesh S Damani : yes the logic is right but will earnings follow?

asda : Sir, a small company "innovative marine products" , belongs to amalgam group from south. Merging another group company with self. Will own "sumeru" brand. A 30 cr brand in packaged/refrigetrated foods. Any view? Wud like to have ur opinion
Ramesh S Damani : i will look at it. No idea sounds promising

Kiran : Ramesh, your call on Mcdowels is just great. Long time back I was pointing you that none of your stock recommendations are moving up. Now I agree that I am totally wrong. Your recommendations are simply superb and my since apology for blaming you. Should we book profits on Mcdowels or shlud we wait for some more time? A big thanks
Ramesh S Damani : i think people confuse momentum investing with value investing. Remember, you are not right or wrong because of the crowd agreeing or disagreeing, You are right if the facts and logic are with you. Thnaks for your thoughts though

StockLover : What is your view on Geometric. On your previous chat, you expressed a bullish view on this. Does this still remain based on the current declines ?
Ramesh S Damani : it might create a problem for them

dj : Sir if insurance is the biggest sector to grow which stocks can we buy, indian rayon or max india
Ramesh S Damani : and also sundaram finance

sanujkadavil : sir champagne indage asia's only wine maker trading 45cr mkt cap. they are on a roll. lots of tie ups , entering beer and vodka, looking to become 300cr company in three years. they even paying 1 rs dividend. looks to earn 10-12 rs eps. this year
Ramesh S Damani : sorry sanuj but no view ar this time

NRNPM : Sir, trust me or not, you got a great fan following in Infosys campus, All our friends also admire you, you should be a FM one day, trust us!
Ramesh S Damani : Wow. I am really humbled. Thanks. It is a privilege. I hope i earn the trust. Thanks and see you all next week. bye
