PC sales touch 12.58 lakh units in H1

January 06, 2004 12:48 IST

Sales of personal computers, in the first half of the current fiscal, touched 12.58 lakh (1.3 million) units, registering a growth of 32 per cent over the same period a year ago.

With sound macro-economic conditions and buoyant buying sentiment in the market, MAIT has revised its PC sales growth projection for 2003-04 to 30 per cent from its earlier 20 per cent to touch 30 lakh (3 million) units.

"The turnaround in PC sales can be attributed to price drops, increased consumption by telecom, banking, financial services and ITeS companies," Manufacturers Association of Information Technology said in its industry performance review for the first half of 2003-04.

In 2002-03, PC sales had touched 23 lakh (2.3 million) units.
