About 70,000 employees consisting of all unions in the civil aviation sector, including Indian Airlines and Air-India, have threatened an agitation if they are not given a hearing on the Naresh Chandra Commitee report before the civil aviation ministry sends its proposals to the Cabinet for approval.

"We are giving one week's time after which we will go on an agitation if we are not given a hearing before the ministry sends its proposals on the recommendations to the Cabinet for approval," convenor of the Civil Aviation Employees' National Convention Committee George Abraham told reporters in Mumbai on Thursday.

As many as 14 unions of the two airlines, Pawan Hans Ltd and Airports Authority of India, which have come together under a joint forum, have condemned the committee report and said the five member panel had skirted core issues and gone around making recommendations to reflect the interests of private and foreign players.
