Infosys, Wipro in world's top 100 IT firms

Indian software giants Infosys Technologies Ltd and Wipro Ltd have been ranked amongst the top 100 infotech companies in the world, according to a BusinessWeek Survey of the world's best IT companies.
While Infosys has been ranked the 27th topmost IT company in the world, Wipro takes the 62nd slot.
Infosys Technologies posted revenues of $1.062 billion and a growth rate of 41 per cent. Wipro, with revenues of Rs $1.191 billion, was also ranked 9th in the 'best returns' category with returns to shareholders of 130.8 per cent.
The survey was based on the latest annual revenues figures of the companies. To compile the Information Technology 100, BusinessWeek began with financial data from Standard & Poor's. To qualify for the survey, companies had to have revenues of at least $300 million.
Korean technology giant LG Electronics was ranked the best IT firm in the world, with revenues of $29.909 billion and a growth rate of 66 per cent.
America Movil, Mexico's wireless player with a revenue of $8.737 billion was ranked the second best IT company in the world. Taiwan's Quanta Computer, with a revenue of $8.742 billion is third.
Hon Hai Precision of Taiwan, with revenues of $10.899 billion was the fourth-best IT company. The only American company in the top five was Nextel at the fifth position, with revenues of $11.555 billion.
Chip giant Intel was ranked 13th, while Dell stood 6th on the list revenues of $43.452 billion.
Another US giant IBM, with revenues of $91.316 billion, has been ranked 10th.
Microsoft, with $35.608 billion in revenues, has been placed in the 49th position on the list with a revenue growth rate of only 13.5 per cent.
Hewlett-Packard too, with second-highest revenues (after IBM) of $76.828 billion, has been ranked 71st. H-P had a revenue growth of 9.1 per cent.
Apple is in the 74th position and has revenues of $7.175 billion and a revenue growth of 23.2 per cent.
