Notwithstanding the demand of the Left parties, Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar on Friday asserted that there would be "no rollback" of the hike in petro products-price.

"Ours is not a rollback government. What has been decided has been implemented," he told reporters on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the Kerala Institute of Local Administration in New Delhi.

Referring to criticism of his move from various quarters, Aiyar said: "Criticism has been muted."

Asked if the Left front's opposition had more to do with political compulsions, he said, "I have no problem with mild criticism."

The minister, however, added that a comprehensive review of the crude oil policy would be undertaken soon.

Earlier the Left front leaders met the prime minister and demanded a rollback in the hike.
