Two-wheeler maker TVS Motor on Monday reported a 3.71 per cent sales rise in February 2004 to 96,408 units over 92,951 units in the same month last year and said it would launch a variant of Fiero motorcycle this month.

Motorcycle sales dipped 3.23 per cent to 59,286 units owing to dropping sales of two-stroke Max range of motorcycles, a company statement said.

Banking on recently launched motorcycles -- Centra and FieroF2 -- and future launches, the company was confident of growth in the motorcycle category in the near future, it said.

The Chennai-based firm will launch Style version of Fiero in March.

Scooter and scooterette sales jumped 37 per cent to 14,188 units in the review month against 10,329 units in February 2003.

Bajaj Auto bike sales up 10%

Bajaj Auto Ltd has reported a 10 per cent rise in motorcycles sales at 84,170 units in February.

The company also entered the Philippines market last month by launching Bajaj BYK, Caliber-115 and Wind-125 through Kawasaki Motor Philippines Corporation, BAL said in a release in Mumbai.

In the premium segment, the Bajaj Pulsar DTSi twins recorded sales of 25,855 units, up 10 per cent compared with 23,429 units sold in February 2003.

Bajaj Caliber 115 and Bajaj Wind 125 together accounted for 15,643 units -- up by 28 per cent.

The demand for three wheelers continued to be strong both in the domestic and export markets as sales were up by 41 per cent at 20,120 units, it said.

On the exports front, BAL saw an increase of 83 per cent at 13,831 units (7,565 units in February 2003), it added.
