India's third largest software exporter, Wipro Ltd [Get Quote], has said its proposed special economic zones (SEZs) in Pune and Chennai would be operational in 18 months.

"We have multiple SEZ plans, including in Pune and Chennai. These will be operational in the next 18 months," company's executive vice president (finance) and chief financial officer Suresh Senapathy told reporters on the sidelines of a CII seminar in New Delhi.

The IT giant has one SEZ in Kolkata and two in Bangalore. To a question, Senapathy said the company expects revenue to start generating from the Motorola joint venture from the October quarter.

Wipro and Motorola had in early August announced they would jointly invest about $20 million over the next three years for outsourced telecom services.

To be headquartered in Europe, the joint venture would have two offices in India --in Bangalore and Delhi.

Anticipating no adverse impact on Wipro's finances in the second quarter of the current fiscal in the backdrop of global economic slowdown, he said the company expects for the current fiscal would be "in line" with its projected revenue target.
