It is all about the audience's mentality. If they like the film it runs if they don't it doesn't. Simple.

But projecting the film in all its honesty is the responsibility of a director which one must pay attention to. You cannot deceive the audiences.

If Bachchan has a ten-minute role in the film you can't put him on the posters.
