Manmohan Desai's films were uninhibited, unpretentious and unerringly aimed at the BO. In Manji's films, Bachchan was the entertainer, the star. Unlike Hrishida, Manji always highlighted the superstar and gave him roles that worked with his image. The star was always at the forefront and hypnotised the audience with magnetic star power.

Action, comedy, romance, drama. Bachchan delivered the goods to audiences in lost-and-found dramas like Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, Coolie, Suhaag, Mard and Naseeb.

The Desai-Bachchan pair scored big at the BO, except for their last project together, Toofan, a total washout.
