Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!, with more than a dozen songs, and Lagaan with its historical match, had the audience coming back for more. Both films were considerably lengthy. But LoC-Kargil beats them both with its four-hour run time.

Dutta's last two ventures, Border and Refugee, fell in the extensive bracket as well. Border was based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war; Refugee was primarily a love story with the military backdrop of both countries.
