D Rama Naidu heads for Guinness Book

M S Shanker in Hyderabad

Daggubati Rama Naidu expects to find himself in the Guinness Book of World Records this time next year. That is, if he becomes the first man on this planet to produce 100 films.

Naidu is currently on a tantalising 97.

The Telugu movie mogul is as keen on scoring a century as SRT is. So, he has just announced his three next ventures, one of them being the Hindi version of his Telugu box office hit,Thodukodalu.

The century should come with the Hindi movie, which will be anchored by arty director, B Narasing Rao, whose Daasi and Rangula Kala have won him considerable acclaim. The film will star Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi and Naidu's son, Venkatesh.

"I am confident that my dream will come true," says Rama Naidu, who plans to begin shooting by the year-end, if not early next year.

Rama Naidu has produced more than a dozen films in Hindi (most of them remakes of successful Telugu films) and six each in Tamil and Kannada. He began his career producing Ramudu-Bheemudu with N T Rama Rao in a double role.

For the moment though, Rama Naidu is worried about getting production number 100 through.
