Dhule divided to create Nandurbar district

Nandurbar becomes a district following the division of Dhule district, Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi informed the legislative assembly on Tuesday.

Joshi said the state cabinet, which met in Bombay yesterday, decided to divide Dhule district. Nawapur, Shahada, Talava, Akrani, Akkalkuva and Nandurbar talukas have been included in the newly created Nandurbar district while Sakri, Dhule, Shirpur, and Sindkheda talukas would remain in Dhule district. The headquarters of the newly created district would be at Nandurbar, he said.

A new revenue subdivision has been set up at Shirpur for two talukas -- Shirpur and Sindkheda, he added. A similar announcement was also made in the legislative council by Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde.
