Mighty tycoons trying to topple UP govt: Kalyan Singh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh has alleged that a 'few big industrialists' are trying to topple his government.

Their attempts, however, the chief minister was confident, would not succeed. His government would last its full term.

Kalyan Singh was speaking at a function in Indore, organised to give away the National Ahila Award.

Singh said his government had launched a drive against corruption and it was those affected by it who were behind such moves.

He denied reports of dissidence in his government.

Meanwhile, an official statement issued in Lucknow said the chief minister has directed that cases be registered against former vice-chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority R P Tyagi, former secretary Padm Singh, former joint secretary Neelam Ahlawat and certain others for the fake auction of 3,000 square metres of land in Ghaziabad. Singh ordered that their pension and gratuity be stopped.

The release said the vigilance enquiry has found the officials guilty. They had auctioned at one third of the original price a 3,000-square metre commercial plot between the Ghaziabad Development Authority and the government bus station to the liquor mafia.
