E-Mail this report to a friend

A 22-year-old man was beaten to death by rival team mates while playing cricket at the Mansura college ground in Malegaon town, near Nashik.

The incident occurred on December 6. The police said Inam Mohammad Yusuf, representing the Morning Star cricket team, was brutally beaten up with stumps and bat by seven furious players.

The issue that sparked off the incident: whether or not to grant a no-ball!

Yusuf was first rushed to the Dhule civil hospital, and later to a private hospital in Nashik, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The police have arrested the seven involved. They will be in custody till December 11, when they will be presented before the court.
