11 killed as parcel bombs explode in Andhra

E-Mail this report to a friend

Eleven people, including a woman and a child were injured when improvised explosive devices -- parcel bombs -- sent by the Naxalites of Red Tigers, exploded in five separate incidents during the last 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh.

Six people, including a child, were injured in three such explosions at the busy Chikkadapally area and Habeebnagar in the old city and Seethaphalmandi in Secunderabad.

The devices were packed with low-density explosives and triggered by high-powered batteries.

Five people were injured in similar incidents at Hanamkonda town in Warangal and Mahboobnagar districts yesterday.

The police have launched an investigation into the incidents and top police officials have rushed to the spot.
