Another small quake hits Shillong

An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale affected Shillong and neighbouring areas at 0840 hours today.

The quake, which lasted a few seconds, had its epicentre 660 km north east of Shillong. No loss of life or damage to property was reported.

This is the third successive tremor in Shillong in the last two weeks.

A report from Guwahati said a quake of moderate intensity also rocked the capital town and its neighbouring areas at around 0845 hours. That tremor too lasted a few seconds.
