No unity with BSP, says MulayamSamajwadi Party president and Defence Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday emphatically denied that any efforts were on to forge unity among his party and the Bahujan Samaj Party. Mulayam Singh said some BSP workers had offered a dharna at his home in Lucknow on Tuesday, demanding that the SP and the BSP sink their differences and come together. "I asked them to go to their party and discuss the issue with their leaders. Nobody, however, returned," he said. He said the manner in which leaders from the BSP, BJP and the Congress were joining his party made it clear that a wave had already set in, in the Samajwadi Party's favour. Asked about the dispute in regard to sharing of seats with the Janata Dal, he said the Dal has submitted its claim in this regard with Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet and the problem is expected to be resolved soon. The Samajwadi Party chief said he expected that the candidates for all the 85 Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh will be finalised by January 24. |
