S C Jamir inducts 21 more ministers
Nagaland Governor O P Sarma today swore in 15 cabinet
ministers and six ministers of state, raising the strength of the
16-day-old, two-tier S C Jamir ministry to 33.
The cabinet ministers who took oath at the Darbar Hall of Raj
Bhavan are Nungshi Zenba, Kiyezhe Sema, Zachilha,
K Yamakam, K Konngam, Joshn Lotha, Intimercn,
I Vikheshe, Talinungsang, Nilo Rengma, T R Zeliang,
T Sentichuba, K V Pusa, Prof T Chuba and Wangyouh Konyak.
The ministers of state are B Phongshak, Sethricho, Sedem
Khaning, Kakheto, Rokomicha and Seyiekuolie.
Eight of the 21 ministers who took oath today are new
faces. They include Intimeren, I Vikheshe and
T Sentichuba in the cabinet. Deputy speaker Wangyuh Konyak was
also given a cabinet berth.
On March 5, 12 cabinet ministers, including the chief
minister, had taken oath.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Jamir told newspersons that
such a large ministry was necessary as it would help speed up
administrative activities after the assembly session beginning
on March 23.
He also ruled out further expansion of the ministry.
Asked about his son Apok filing nomination papers for the
Rajya Sabha seat from the state, he said Apok was the choice of various young groups of several tribes of the state. "The times are changing and
the young people have started entering the Upper House of the country," he said.
