Maharashtra's Minister for Trade and Commerce Pramod Navalkar said a decision has been taken to set up an international air passenger and cargo hub at Nagpur as per the government's new trade and industrial policy.

Navalkar made this announcement in a written reply to a question asked by Hussain Dalwai (Samajwadi Party), Vyankappa Patki (Janata Dal) and others in the Maharashtra legislative council during question hour regarding the work done on the cargo hub at Nagpur.

Theminister said the Airports Authority of India has declared Nagpur as an international air passenger and cargo hub and as a result, import and export has started there from September 1, 1997, through the customs department at Nagpur.
