Congress MP gets showcause letter for criticising AICC appointment

The Congress has sought an explanation from party MP Datta Meghe for his reported criticism of Major Sudhir Sawant's appointment as one of the secretaries of the All India Congress Committee.

Party general secretary Madhavrao Scindia, in his letter to Meghe, said the party had taken serious note of the impropriety arising out of his statement at Nagpur. The criticism amounted to challenging the authority of the Congress president who was empowered to make appointments to the AICC.

'This was an act of great impropriety which we have taken serious note of. You are, therefore, requested to explain your position in the matter within a week,' Scindia has said in his letter.
